Ms. Cook Special Education AIM Teacher
Welcome to my webpage. My name is Ms. Reta Cook. I am a Special Education AIM Teacher for Crosby Elementary School. This year I look forward to working with your child to develop life skills and promote social and academic growth. Feedback and student progress will be sent home as needed otherwise it will be a reporting document sent home during grading periods. I am available to meet with you during my prep period. Please call the campus to schedule a meeting. I value your input and support. I encourage you to attend scheduled meetings to discuss your student's Individual Education Plan (IEP).
Attendance is extremely important. Please make every effort to be sure you student is on time and has the needed supplies each day. I look forward to what I know will be a promising year with your child. Should you need to contact me with any comments, questions, or concerns please feel free to call the campus to schedule an appointment. Thank you for your cooperation and assistance this school year.
The following is a copy of a favorite poem I want to share with you.
"Two Sculptors" - Anonymous
I dreamed I saw a studio
And watched two sculptors there.
The clay they used was a child's mind
And they fashioned it with care.
One was a teacher--the tools he used
Were books, music, and art
The other: a parent, worked with a guiding hand,
And a gentle, loving heart.
Day after day, the teacher toiled with a touch
That was careful, deft, and sure.
While the parent labored by his side
And polished and smoothed it o'er.
And when at last, their task was done,
They were proud of what they had wrought
For the things they had molded into the child
Could neither be sold or bought.
And each agreed they would have failed
If either had worked alone.
For behind the parent stood the school,
And behind the teacher, the home.
